We now have our decision for the next four years.
First and foremost we need to get "The First Black President" stuff out of the way. It is going to make for a pretty difficult job if that is where the focus lies, and it will from this point to inauguration but how far beyond that is hard to tell. How many people voted for Obama just because of this fact? I'm sure we could have pulled several people from the poll lines and asked what Obama's plan is for America and you would have received blank stares.
Yesterday a man was elected as the 44th President of The United States of America. The same thing happened 43 times before. Why should we make the point that he is African American? I don't care what color our president is, I care about whether or not he can lead this country and fix the multitude of problems he is going to inherit. Get us on the right path to being a productive country once again. Stop fighting other countries battles and keep our money here, to fight our own poverty issues. Get the jobs back in our country so Americans can make a good enough living to afford American made products.
How do we go from being the wealthiest country in the world to having Wall Street on welfare?
For one thing, we can't turn our backs when things are going great. The stock market jumps by leaps and bounds and all of government and the wealthy friends yell woohoo and slap each other on the backs, give out big bonuses and have one big celebration. Nobody asks why or how this happened it is just good and we need to ride the wave. Here's the news flash, if we would have kept track with the upturn and the hows and whys we wouldn't have this severe downturn. This isn't the weather, it is something we can control. We focus so much time, energy and money in resolving global warming as if we have the power to control the weather. Let's put the focus where it belongs and let nature take its course.
Now is the time for our government to fix what's wrong and let us live the life of freedom that we have come to expect. How this is going to be accomplished, I don't know but I am hoping that our new President, The Senate and The House will find a way. It will start with the realization that all of us on the lower end of the pecking order are the ones that make this country run. Presidents, Vice Presidents, CEO's on down to the sales people don't mean a thing if there aren't people to make the product. If we keep shipping the jobs overseas then you create the problem that there is nobody here who can afford the products.
By the people, for the people had never been more true than it is today. We elect our officials to govern the country not to interfere withour lives. We have seatbelt laws to protect us, we have smoking bans to protect us, we have so many things that the government put in place that could have been money well spent on something else. I have a problem with the government telling me to wear a seatbelt when there is a motorcycle in the lane right next to me doing 65-70mph. If a business wants to allow smoking that is their right and in doing so, if non smokers don't want to go there DON'T. We a widdling away the choices that a free America used to be able to make.
How does it work out? We say that wearing seatbelts saves lives, well maybe some lives aren't supposed to be saved. If we were so concerned about saving a life then abolish tabacco products from this country. Oops, that would lower tax revenue. You can't get rid of tabacco money so you limit where people can smoke and this makes it better.
I am kind of getting off my point. The reason I say "kind of" is because they are all legitament issues. It really makes me wonder why anyone would want to run for the office of President Of The United States.
